Bar crawl - squeezing into Tiny Wine, a pocket-sized wine bar with a big heart

What do we need to know about Tiny Wine?

As you might have expected from the name, this is indeed a very small wine bar. It's from the Latin American restaurant group Crudo Cocina Latina, who run Crudo and has taken over the space from what used to be the Fitzrovian branch of Crudo.

Where exactly is that?

You'll find it on the intersection of Foley and Hanson streets in the heart of Fitzrovia, with Goodge Street being the nearest tube station. Along with a smattering of tables outside on the pavement, a handful of tables for two inside and a semi-private group table, it's diminutive in every sense of the word.

What's the wine list like?

In keeping with the theme, owners Maria and Carlos have kept the list deliberately tight. Expect to find around 50 bottles at any one time on there (the list changes seasonally), with most of the options either natural or low-intervention. That said, there's a decent selection by the glass with at least two options in most categories. We stuck to the by-the-glass offering and liked seeing interesting options like a Moroccan rose from a vineyard bought up by Bordeaux vignerons back in the early 2000s.

And there's food?

There is, much of it taking influence from when this used to be Crudo. The menu is loosely split into bar snacks, gildas, bocadillos and tapas.

Overall thoughts:

If you happened upon Tiny Wine by chance, you'd be delighted with this as a discovery. The opening of an independent wine bar is always something to cheer, and this one was particularly friendly. We never felt preached to or judged by our picks and that's a very good thing indeed.
