Summer pop-up at The Banqueting House in Whitehall

banquetinghouseIf you think the look of where you eat is just as important as what you eat, you'll be wanting to pop down to Westminster where, over the next few weeks, Pop up at the Palace takes over the Great Hall at the Banqueting House in the Palace of Westminster.

The main event is The King's Tea - which includes finger sandwiches, scones and clotted cream, brownies, fruit tartlets and tea and coffee for £25.50 per person plus a £5 entrance fee to the Palace itself. For £6.50 more you get a glass of English fizz to round the afternoon off nicely. You can also opt for a smaller tea at £19.50 per person.

We don't need much encouragement to go for an afternoon tea, but the idea of sitting and scoffing beneath the magnificent Rubens ceiling of the Great Hall sounds pretty marvellous.

If you can gather together a group of 15 people or more, you can also book a table at the Great Hall for lunch. Starting at £20.50 for two courses (plus £5 entry to the Palace of Westminster) lunch includes such summer delights as chilled watercress soup, brochette of Carmarthenshire Lamb with broad bean purée and chocolate and victoria plum tart.

Pop up at the Palace runs from now until 28 August 2011. Book tickets to the summer pop-up here.
