BAFTAs 2016 - we get a sneak preview of the official dinner

bafta sitting

For most folk, 14 February is either the day you're most (or least) likely to be heading out to dinner with your other half. But for the A-listers, it's not so much Valentine's Day as BAFTA day. And when all the showtime shenanigans are over and everyone has has their pic snapped on the red carpet, the great and good of the showbiz world will head on over to Grosvenor House for the official awards dinner and after party.

At the awards, canapes include "Smoked Lincolnshire Poacher puff with chicken and apple salad, spicy tomato pickle and crispy skin" and "Lincolnshire hot smoked trout on Tattie scones with crème fraiche and lemon caviar" and everyone going will be able to grab one of those.

Hot Dinners got a sneak preview of what the after-party will be sitting down to, by BAFTA Head Chef Anton Manganaro, and it does sound rather fine.

Starters

Beetroot marinated salmon, horseradish yoghurt, pink grapefruit dressing and confit lemon
or
Beech roasted pepper, quinoa salad, leek and wild mushrooms, pickled heritage carrots and poppy seed dressing

Mains

Loin of lamb ‘en croute’, slow braised shoulder of lamb, spiced red cabbage with golden raisins, butternut fondant, spinach and watercress mash
or
Winter vegetables and Yorkshire Feta ‘en croute’, spiced red cabbage with golden raisins, butternut fondant, spinach and watercress mash

Dessert

Seventy percent classic dark chocolate brownie with mousse, lavender creme and berry compote

And because we're nosy folk, we're intrigued to see the place setting planned for the dinner (see pic), from the nominated film table mats to the minature BAFTA chocolate masks.

The BAFTAs take place on Sunday 14 February - keep up with all the news at their official Twitter account @BAFTA
