Jackie's Counter, an NYC-style diner has landed in Notting Hill (with plans for a late night martini bar on the way)

Notting Hill residents will probably have spotted a new opening in their neighbourhood. Jackie's Counter has been soft launching for the last few weeks, finding its feet on Kensington Church Street. It's the latest venture for Andy and Nati Perritt, the couple behind local pub The Mall Tavern.

They're describing it as a "neighbourhood luncheonette", and right now it's open during the day, kicking off mornings with cold brew slushies and breakfast bagels moving onto Reubens, salt beef sandwiches and tuna melts later on. For the sweet-toothed among you, they're doing homemade pies, black and white cookies, and soft serve.

Phase two of the launch, which is promised soon, is an after-dark opening when they're going to be switching it up to become a late-night martini and dessert bar. So if you've been wondering where you can get an ice-cold martini along with a slice of NYC cheesecake, or maybe a boozy slushie, this will be the place to come.

"We love NYC so much, we actually got married there!" Andy told Hot Dinners. "We noticed that these very specific New York places just weren't replicated in London much, and when this little space became available just round the corner from the pub, we decided it was a sign, and we had to do it!

"It's the very start of our journey with Jackie's; we're going to do more and more fun and interesting things with the space and with what Nati bakes, such as the sweet pies, black and white cookies, sweet buns, etc. - she's a great baker!"
