It's been a long time since Andrew Wong has concentrated on anything other than his two-Michelin-starred restaurant A Wong, last opening the short-lived Kym's in Bloomberg Arcade, back in 2018.
But now he's getting ready to head to Shoreditch, opening Kong in the Nolton Folgate development (where you'll also find Osteria Angelina). For this, he's teamed up with Dishoom founder Amar Radia, so they're making quite the power couple. They're calling Kong a "Chinese public house", and it'll be part pub, part Chinese kitchen. The menu is under wraps at the moment, but they say to expect "dumplings at dawn, noodles at lunch, grills with a cold pint at dusk."
We'll have lots more news about this closer to the opening, but in the meantime, we'll leave the last word to Andrew Wong: "Kong is a Chinese kitchen reflecting our personality, shaped by London, the East End, China, and A.Wong. Untraditional, instinctive, fearless, all-day cooking."
