Party like it’s 1986 (including prices) for Le Garrick’s 40th birthday

Covent Garden institution Le Garrick has announced a one-day only treat for diners: to celebrate its 40th birthday, the French restaurant is turning back the clock to 1986 and adjusting its prices accordingly.

Whether you wish to don fluorescent legwarmers, dust off the lace gloves and tease your hair to gravity-defying proportions is entirely up to you, but the year 1986 certainly brings on fond memories for many. For Le Garrick, 1986 is the year it emerged as a little pocket of Paris in London’s West End. It’s still an independently run business (no mean feat in this part of town) and – in typically Gallic meet-cute fashion – it’s now owned by a couple who first met in this restaurant more than 20 years ago: Dominika and Charles Lepelletier. Charles’s upbringing in Toulouse, Burgundy and the Basque Country has helped to inform the menu’s direction, featuring family recipes passed down through the generations.

Now, Le Garrick is creating a very special menu to give thanks to the performing artists, theatre-goers, locals and visitors who have enjoyed the candlelit ambience and classic French fare over the past four decades.

Without skimping on the deliciousness, the extremely wallet-friendly menu will include French soup for £1.20, chicken liver parfait for £2.10, their signature Coq au Vin for £6.50 and a pot au chocolat for £2.50.
