Putney's getting a really interesting Indian restaurant, Raaz, from an ex-Kolamba chef

raaz indian restaurant opening in putney

Lucky old Putney folk. They'll no longer have to schlep into town to get great Indian food, with what sounds like a properly interesting neighbourhood restaurant opening on their doorsteps. Raaz (the name means secret but this one's going to get out fast) comes from chef Imran Mansuri who most recently headed up the restaurant at Kolamba in Soho but also has the likes of Michelin-starred restaurants Tamarind and Benares in his CV too.

So what can you expect? Well apparently they'll be serving up "a bold fusion of India’s rich regional flavors with innovative, modern techniques". If you're wondering what that'll mean in practice then dishes on that launch menu could range from Cornish Lamb Chops with kadai mushrooms and a soft-yolk quail’s egg to a coconut-based Malabar Fish Curry with wild seabass.

They're boasting a proper sound system and some interesting cocktails on the list, so this might be less of a sleepy local spot and more of a vibey place to eat out south of the river.

"We’re serving the kind of modern Indian food you’d happily cross London for," says Imran, "only now it’s on your doorstep."
