Richoux is coming back to London with a very French all-day café

Richoux is coming back to London with a very French all-day café

Back in 2021, one of the early casualties of Lockdown was cafe and patisserie Richoux. When its owner went into administration, all the Richoux sites closed. The name was briefly revived for a Piccadilly opening that was more of a restaurant, but that also closed a few years later.

Now, the people who bought Richoux, Big Belly Hospitality, are getting ready to bring it back. The first new Richoux is opening just north of Oxford Street, taking over the space that recently held Pizzeria Mozza.  Richoux is being brought back as a Parisian-style cafe, something that seems to be very on-trend in London right now. It's going to be an all-day space with a big focus on the wood-fired oven (which we're betting hails from the site's Mozza days). Dishes revealed so far include a 36-day dry-aged ribeye to share between two, a classic Croque Monsieur and steak tartare prepared tableside. They're also promising a well-priced set lunch and pre-theatre menu.

On the sweet side, they'll be serving patisserie and viennoiserie from a trolley (love a bit of trolley action!), and both the wine and cocktail lists will concentrate on French offerings. And as far as the design goes, it's all about wood panelling, white marble tabletops and and deep navy leather banquettes.

This is just the first Richoux in a roll out plan, with a second already earmarked for Tower Bridge. After that, it will go international with openings in Dubai and Saudi Arabia next year. Here's hoping things work out much better for the brand this time around.
