You may know Bagatelle Group from their eponymous Bagatelle restaurant in Mayfair (and many others around the world), but they're about to try something new for their next opening. They're launching restaurants as part of a new group, La Bistrot Collection, and the first of those is getting ready to open in Notting Hill.
Chez Lui is taking over the space that used to be Haya, and the restaurant will be modelled on the kind of independent restaurants that you might find in the fashionable Le Marais district of Paris.
Food-wise, it's a seasonal French menu with a few hints of Mediterranean influence, so you'll find:
- Egg mayonnaise with tarragon and pickled mustard seeds
- Fried purple artichokes with celery pesto and trout roe vinaigrette
- Sea bass carpaccio seasoned with fresh citrus
- Knife-cut beef tartare with chimichurri sauce
The wine list will, as you might expect, centre on French classics.
To design the restaurant, they've brought in designer Sam Baron, who has worked with Dior Maison and Diptyque, so he'll be bringing an extremely chic version of Paris to Notting Hill.
Chez Lui is only the first opening they have planned. Following it soon will be Cafe Des Lilas, in Mayfair. We'll have more details on that one later.
