Belly is a new Kentish Town bistro serving up Filipino & European dishes by candlelight

belly bistro opening in kentish town

Restaurateur Omar Shah is a busy man right now. The man behind Ramo Ramen and Mamasons has just opened two new businesses in Kentish Town - Hoodwood and Cafe Mama & Sons which are a Caribbean takeaway and Filipino/Japanese bakery respectively. Now he's taking the space that used to be Ramo Ramen on Kentish Town Road and is turning into Belly, a new neighbourhood bistro.

The candlelit bistro will serve up a Filipino food through a European lens, with a focus on wood-fired cooking. In practice, that means dishes like:

  • Steak tartar with cured yolk and nori seasoned crisps
  • Pandesal cod tempura slider with ikura tartar
  • Wood fired wagyu picanha with peppercorn & liver sauce

Desserts sound equally enticing. We may have to make a trip to try the frozen custard profiterole with fish sauce caramel as well as the coconut pie with chantilly cream. And there'll be a tight selection of wines available by the bottle and glass.
