9/12/25 - updated with more details and an opening date
London bakery nerd alert - one of the world's best bakers is coming to town. Richard Hart hails from London but made his name far from home, having headed up the famous Tartine in San Francisco for seven years before co-founding Copenhagen bakery Hart Bagery with none other than René Redzepi of Noma. Now he's signed up to be the executive baker and creative director at Claridge's Bakery.
The hotel's new bakery is going to be located at the rear of the hotel, on Brook's Mews, alongside the current ArtSpace Cafe. British bakes will be the focus, and on the savoury side, you can expect Marmite cheese straws, Hampshire pork scotch eggs, quiches, sandwiches and what they're calling "the ultimate Claridge’s sausage roll". On the sweet side, you'll find Bakewell tarts, lardy cakes, malt loaves and their versions of French Fancies. We love French Fancies, so are very curious to see what a five-star hotel's version of them will be.
As for bread, that will be led by bloomers and granary loaves and Hart's famous sourdough loaves.
"My goal is to celebrate timeless British baked favourites in one of the most notable British institutions," said Richard.
Expect this to be all over your Instagram feed when it opens.
