We've already written about the impressive-sounding new development that's opening beside Fulham Football ground called Fulham Pier. But now we have some very interesting news about the restaurant that's opening there - Brasserie Constance by Adam Byatt.
Byatt is best known for being Chef Patron of the Michelin-starred restaurant Trinity in Clapham (as well as culinary director of Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair). So it's a pretty impressive coup to get him to create this new neighbourhood restaurant for the area, given the success that he's had with Trinity.
It's being billed as a modern British brasserie, and it's inspired by Constance Spry, a local and hugely influential florist and writer, who has been referred to as the "first domestic goddess" (well before Nigella). She's also the person who created coronation chicken, and while we haven't had a look at the menu for Brasserie Constance (we'll have more details later), we'll say now that we're pretty much demanding that her signature dish makes an appearance.
A big thing in the restaurant's favour will also be the view, which they say will have "uninterrupted views of the River Thames" with floor-to-ceiling windows. It'll also have its own terrace as well as a private dining room that comes with its own private terrace.
In addition to the restaurant, there's the bar Flo (named after Spry’s assistant and friend, Florence Standfast). Alongside its own cocktail list, it will have a list of 200 wines selected by the Trinity sommelier team. It's also worth mentioning that both the restaurant and bar will be open to the public and not just people going to a match (although it will be a very handy pre/post game destination).
It all sounds very promising and of the restaurant, Byatt says "Having lived in Fulham for several years during my early career, it is an exciting full-circle moment to be bringing Brasserie Constance to life within such a landmark destination."
