A somewhat quiet opening in Hackney earlier this month is already starting to get a lot of positive reactions. Miga bills itself as a "modern Korean kitchen" and it's a family affair coming from two brothers and their chef father. Originally starting in New Malden, their mother currently has a takeaway in Morden while their father runs the kitchen at this restaurant in Hackney.
They have a different menu at lunch and dinner, with dishes including:
- Galbijjim - Soy-braised shortribs, Korean pear, shiitake mushrooms
- Seoleontang gugsu - ox bone broth, sliced beef, noodles, kimchi
- Jabchae -Sweet potato glass noodles, oyster mushrooms, onion paprika
- Maeun saeu - King prawns with gochujang sauce
- Suyug - Sliced brisket with perilla seed aioli
- Dwaejigogi Jolim - braised pork belly, apple salad, mustard sauce
The restaurant is hard to miss - an all-white affair with the family history written on the outside - and by all accounts, it's well worth a visit.
