Got friends and family in town for the festive season and can’t think of where to take them? Or just finding it difficult to get a table at your favourite rooftop bar at this time of year? Then Christmas has come early with the announcement that Florattica is opening in East London. It’s a rooftop bar with views across to St Paul’s Cathedral, Canary Wharf and the Thames, no less. No need to let the weather spoil your plans, either, the terrace is both heated and covered.
Take a ride up to the 11th floor to let your end-of-year stresses ease a little over cocktails and small plates while admiring the ceilings of floral installations inspired by 17th-century French Huguenots. On the menu, you can expect the likes of:
- Beef tartare with confit egg yolk, crispy tartlet and fresh black truffle
- Traditional lobster roll with crème fraiche, lemon oil and chives
- Native oysters with Champagne, raspberry and white balsamic vinaigrette
- Goat cheese mousse, heritage baby beetroot, caramelised pecan and beetroot
- Charcuterie board (for two) with speck, bresaola, capocollo, salame finocchiona
Head Mixologist Serena Carrino, formerly of Shoreditch’s Nightjar, continues Florattica’s floral theme with premium spirits and local ingredients. The adventurous cocktail lovers might go for Cynara (black-garlic-infused Tanqueray, Campari, Mancino Rosso and clarified artichoke juice) and there's an equal focus on non-alcoholic choices.
