Honey & Co is closing on Warren Street after a decade

Sad news hits today about the imminent closure of what's become a London institution. Itamar Srulovich and Sarit Packer have announced that they'll be closing their much-loved restaurant Honey & Co in April. Apparently, they were not offered the opportunity to renew their 10-year lease, meaning it's time for them to move on.

Speaking about the closure, Itmar said; "Sadly the time came to renew and the building was sold instead. While it was a bit of a blow after such a crazy 18 months, we are moving on and excited for the next 10 years of Honey & Co., whatever that may bring. We had this simple idea to open a little place of our own – at first, we thought it would be a kebab shop, but we came to the idea of serving up all the dishes we missed from home: shawarma in the oven, delicious fresh salads, tahini with everything. Looking back, I was certain we wouldn’t do any cakes… and then the cheesecake happened."

Over the years, Honey & Co served up a menu of traditional Middle-Eastern food and got some stellar reviews. Jay Rayner was an early fan, saying "This is indeed food made by people who like to eat... it feels like an act of love." while Grace Dent called the place "tiny and perfectly formed." One reviewer who took his own sweet time was Giles Coren who, despite having known from the day it opened that it was "best goddam little unassuming bakery and mezze joint outside the actual Levant", only actually got around to going and reviewing it this weekend.

Honey & Co are now accepting bookings until they close in April (good luck getting a seat) but at least Londoners will still have Honey & Smoke round the corner and the deli Honey & Spice, which we always pop into whenever we're in the area (the pistachio cookies are AMAZING).

With luck, we'll see them open Honey & Co in a new space before too long.
