If you've been hankering for any taste of what it's like to be back in London's restaurants, a new photography series might have what you need.

Photographer Sam Wright has put together a collection called Local London, showcasing London's independent restaurants and cafes that have been closed during the lockdown. He managed to capture the places in question during one of the brief lockdown lifts last year.

The photos, which you can see in all their glory in The Gourmand magazine, take in City stalwart seafood restaurant Sweetings, the wonderfully retro Regency Cafe in Westminster, Stoke Newington's Paradise Fish Bar and the embattled India Club, which is currently fighting for survival against eviction, on the Strand,

As the magazine explains: "With uncertainty looming for small businesses, this project aims to highlight some of London’s finest independent eateries: packed full of heritage, atmosphere and good food." It's certainly made us pine for them...
