What: Hive at Selfridges
In a nutshell: Honey concept restaurant
Summing it all up: This new honey focused restaurant at Selfridges will feature talks by beekeepers and use honey from its own rooftop hives in the dishes.
The low-down
The food team at Selfridges are busy creating buzz (sorry) about their new restaurant. Hive at Selfridges is going to be a concept restaurant based all around honey. They're going to put hives on the shop's rooftop and honey from that and from artisanal honey farm Le Miel des Francais will supply the restaurant.
Open all day, the new restaurant will be on the department store's third floor, replacing Hemsley + Hemsley. You'll be able to order a range of honey and cheese pairings - like Comte and Chestnut Honey, and Fourme d’Ambert with Buckwheat honey and there'll be honey afternoon teas on offer too.
As Khalid Samata, the owner of HIVE explains, his obsession with monofloral honey led him to build relationships with London's top chefs to create honey desserts in some of the best restaurants in town. Now he's using that know-how to open his own restaurants. "After a difficult year, we are so excited to open our doors and celebrate living life again with such a beautiful concept, amazing food and good company."
