Another year, another awards season and just before we get to next week's new Michelin stars, it's the turn of The Good Food Guide to unveil their gongs.

This year, there's been a bit of a shake-up at the guide, with their scoring rating being replaced and instead they'll be highlighting restaurants

The Bib Gourmands are billed as being for slightly more affordable restaurants than your average Michelin fare, serving "good food at moderate prices". So with that in mind, here's who got a shiny new bib this year in London.

It's that time again - where we round up the very best of London's eating and drinking in the year that's almost done. Here's our complete run-down of the very best of 2023 - including the city's best new restaurant. 

There were celebrations up in Cumbria yesterday as Simon Rogan's flagship restaurant L'enclume came in at no. 1 on La Liste's pick of the 1000 best restaurants in the world. L'Enclume tied for joint first place with a number of other restaurants, all with a final score of 99.50, including Le Bernardin in New York and Sushi Saito in Japan.

This year, the world's top chefs and restaurateurs gathered in Valencia to hear where their establishments had placed in the 2023 World's 50 Best Restaurants list. "It's a celebration of diverse cuisines and culinary cultures," said the list's head of content, William Drew in his opening speech.

The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards for 2023 have been announced and, after its debut last year at the top, Ynyshir has once again retained the pole position as Restaurant of the Year. The Welsh restaurant has been going from strength to strength

 While we wait for the main event on 20 June, the World's 50 Best Restaurants started ramping up the excitement by releasing the 51-100 section of the list.

It's always an interesting reveal, not least because if any of the UK restaurants that were in this section last year but aren't this year, you can begin speculating as to whether they've dropped out altogether or have risen to the heady heights

The great and good of the food and drink world assembled last night at The Royal Exchange for the 2023 Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards. And while the canapes and seemingly limitless Champagne were all rather fabulous we were mainly there to discover who the panel of judges had decided should walk away with a gong for their contributions, be it in writing, broadcasting or photography.

Kicking off the year with the first major awards of the season, the Top 50 Gastropubs of 2023 were announced last night. 

This year it's the turn of a pub that we hear no end of great things about - The Parkers Arms. The Lancashire pub, led by Kathy Smith and Stosie Madi. Last year's number one The Unruly Pig drops only one place

Things aren't looking so great for London diners, according to the Good Food Guide. As the first guide to be published in two years was launched in a party last night (in London) it transpired that not only was our city no longer considered the most exciting place to eat in the country, but the number of restaurants it could muster in the guide's top 20 had almost halved.
