  It's now clear what Gordon Ramsay has spent Lockdown 2.0 doing. In addition to messing around on TikTok, he's been planning world domination. And he's starting with London, where he's opening five new 'street food' restaurants, three of those before the end of 2020.

• The River Cafe expands, stealth-launching Sylvia's, a brand new restaurant

  

  Out of relatively nowhere, London stalwart The River Cafe has decided that now is the time to expand - and they're opening a new restaurant called Sylvia's.

  They're not moving too far away from their own back yard though, as it'll be making use of the old meeting rooms at (River Cafe owner Ruth Rogers husband) Richard Rogers Architects. In an email sent by River Cafe, they say:

• Golden Gai is Angelina's Soho spin-off bar

  

  The original Golden Gai was a six-seater bar in Angelina in Dalston. This Soho spin-off is a much larger affair but will continue the mix of Italian and Japanese flavours in the food and drink. 

• Cafe Bao is Bao's King's Cross all-day bakery and it's all about Yōshoku cuisine

  For their fourth opening, in King's Cross, the folk at BAO have decided to switch things up with an all day cafe serving breakfast for the first time and with its own bakery.

• Spiritland and an experimental Pastaio come to Joy at Portobello

  

  Stevie Parle is about to switch things up a notch in Joy at Portobello. As well as the courtyard and seats upstairs, he's now joining forces with the folk at Spiritland and his own restaurant Pastaio, bringing them to the downstairs space. It'll actually be a development variant of Pastaio, which will act as something of an experimental kitchen for the group.
