Richard Corrigan is opening a restaurant at Hawley Wharf in Camden

Two years after he opened Daffodil Mulligan, chef and restaurateur Richard Corrigan is hard at work on his next project. He'll be opening what sounds to be a very interesting place as part of the whole Hawley Wharf development in Camden Market.

In an interview this weekend with the Irish Independent, the chef revealed some details about what he's planning.

“I am up to my eyes with designers, builders, for my new place in Hawley Wharf in Camden Basin,” he told them. “That whole area of Camden was a bit of a tourist hole. Now it has become another London hub, like Shoreditch was in the 1990s.”

There's precious little information on what's coming - the new restaurant doesn't even have a name yet, but it sounds like Corrigan has his arms full. " It is all about great food – bakery, smokery, craft beers – and it is going to be something really very special.”

The restaurant is being designed by Michaelis Boyd who were responsible for Soho Farmhouse and Soho House in Berlin along with Andrew Wong's now-closed restaurant Kym's. What we do know is that it's going to be pretty big. "We have about 120 seats on the roof," says Corrigan, "and about 50 outside on the terrace."

It's a bit of a homecoming for the chef who landed in Camden when he first arrived in London in the late Eighties, living in what he describes as a "Dickensian bedsit on Camden Road".

We'll bring you more news on this as we get it.
