  Parisian restaurant folk Big Mamma Group picked Shoreditch for their first London restaurant opening. We went to see how their upbeat Italian trattoria fits into the London restaurant scene.

  The Big Mamma group in Paris have had huge hits with their trattorias and now they're coming to London with Gloria, taking over a big space in Shoreditch. Expect Italian food in a classic looking space (as well as a hidden 80s-set dining room). 

• Emilia's is bringing their fresh pasta to Aldgate

  The original Emilia's Crafted Pasta in St Katharine's Docks was among the first of the new breed of simple, fresh, well-made and affordable pasta restaurants in London. Now they're expanding with a new restaurant in Aldgate.

• Vapiano are opening restaurants at Centre Point, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf

  This popular Italian casual chain is expanding with three key openings set for the west end, riverside and Canary Wharf areas.

• Maremma will serve up Tuscan cooking in the heart of Brixton

  Two Brixton locals, with one foot in Italy and the other in south London, are opening a neighbourhood spot on Brixton Water Lane serving up a range of Tuscan treats.

• Angelina Restaurant will mash up Italian and Japanese food and drink on Dalston Lane

  This new seafood spot in Tooting Broadway Market combines the freshest seafood with Italian flair making it a street food spot worth checking out.

• New Italian restaurant Artisan in Notting Hill adds Japanese flavours to the menu

  The team behind nearby Japanese restaurant UKAI are behind this new Italian spot which incorporates a few Asian flavours too.

• Test of Time - we make a return visit to Polpetto
