Best dishes we ate

From a truly great pork pie to panisse snacks and a surprisingly good airport spice bag, here are some of the best things we ate this month. 

The penultimate month of the year saw us eating excellent pizza, getting dessert FOMO in Fitzrovia and diving into a bowl of amazing noodles in Covent Garden.

Life enhancing mash, a mushroom dish worth talking about and an interesting American fizz are just some of the things that made our hit list over the past month of dining out.

This month we dined with Idris Elba, took in a new City Italian and feasted on high-rise maki, a showstopping tomato dish, a savoury afternoon tea, and very messy burgers. 

It's been a pretty good month for eating out with trips to Acme Fire Cult, the Corinthia London, both the Rows (One Club Row and Row on 5) among others.

March saw us enjoying a smorgasbord of great party food from the launch of Gordon Ramsay's high-rise restaurants to our own Murphia List event. Alongside that we had superior crudo, next-level fried chicken and more. 

We may still be waiting for the cold weather to be finally done with, but plenty of food kept us warm in February, from bean stews to freshly baked madeleines. Here's our pick of the best.

Far from being all doom and gloom, our January proved to be a strong start to 2025 with moreish bar snacks, stellar sushi and a very cleverly done egg. 

At the end of the year, besides all the turkey and Christmas chocolates (and there were a LOT of both of those) we managed to visit some excellent new places, from a top new Mayfair Sardinian restaurant to a very promising new pub in Islington. 

A short trip to Paris, return visits to a few old favourites and a smattering of brand new openings all across London filled up our restaurant dance card for November.

Trips to Ireland, Norfolk and Suffolk helped with our highlights this past month, along with an excellent new Mexican, barnstormingly good burger and the latest new bakery mash-up in town.

September saw the arrival of cooler weather alongside us trying some wonderful bar snacks from Bébé Bob, learning how to make carbonara, visiting a hot new West London wine bar and also heading back to Malaga in search of some late summer sun. 

August saw us busier than ever, with highlights including anniversary trips to The Portrait and Lyle's, trying The Devonshire's bar menu, discovering the hottest new Islington wine bar, eat a spectacular meal beside the Thames and LOTS more. 

Alongside some great dishes from London, July saw us travelling a fair bit, dining out in Spain, Ireland, Sussex and just outside Winchester. And even in London we roamed the globe, trying out Basque, Mexican, Japanese, French and Thai dishes. Here's our pick of the bunch.
