ICHIBUNS are bringing wagyu burgers and ramen to Soho

ichibunsmain

1/9/17 - updated with soft launch details.

What: ICHIBUNS

In a nutshell: Wagyu burgers, buns and ramen.

Summing it all up: The somewhat oddly named ICHIBUNS is the latest restaurant from Robin Leigh (the chap behind Nobu, Busaba Eathai). This one's a bid for a roll-out, featuring burgers, rolls, ramen and more on the menu.

The low-down

This is definitely one of those restaurant names that makes you go - "it's called what, now?" Yes, this is ICHIBUNS, the latest from Robin Leigh, the chap behind Nobu and Busaba Eathai.

On the menu, you'll find ramen - but not just any ramen, but ramen with wagyu beef and king crab. And there are burgers (made with a mix of wagyu and prime British grass-fed beef, including these:

  • The Hokkaido - two grilled patties, grilled red onions, sauteed shiitake mushrooms, white truffle oil, blue cheese fondue
  • Panko meatball - panko crusted fried beef patty, cabbage julienne, Japanese vegetable pickle, spicy yoghurt, curry ketchup (also served as a Fish Finger Burger - panko crusted fried salmon fingers)

Or there's the crispy Japanese spring rolls - one of which is Snow Crab (with shiitake mushrooms, shiso leaf, yuzu pepper, cabbage and butter ponzu sauce) while another is a wagyu cheeseburger variety.

There are green tea profiteroles for dessert and Ichi Shakes which include the Sakura Blossom - milk and cherry ice cream, with marinated cherries, marshmallows and cherry sauce.

In all, it seems like they're going for casual dining in a big way with a menu that we have to say sounds VERY interesting. We'll definitely be in line for those cheeseburger spring rolls...
