There have been a few high-end hotel openings recently, and this month sees the opening of another one in London. This time it's the turn of the Mandarin Oriental, opening the doors to its second home in the capital. They've brought in top chef Akira Back to run two restaurants, a lounge area and a rooftop bar. One of the restaurants, Dosa, will be a full-on chef's table experience (that's opening later in the year, along with the rooftop). At all of these, expect Japanese and Korean cuisine on offer, while dishes planned include Back's AB Tuna Pizza, Highland Wagyu Striploin and what he's calling Dynamite Lobster.

Opening: 3 June 2024

The Park

Bayswater - 123 Bayswater Rd, London W2 3JH

The dust has started to settle from the hugely successful launch of Arlington, so it's time for Jeremy King to turn his attention to the next restaurant he's opening. Originally the first one announced as part of his new company, this all-day dining restaurant is a pretty large affair, fitting in 190 people and is being pitched as serving American cuisine "with a European/Californian influence". Quite a different beast to Arlington, this seems much more in the mould of an old Corbin & King style of restaurant, and should be the go-to place for anyone taking a stroll around Hyde Park.

Opening: June (date TBC)

This restaurant will be a Parisian-inspired bistro backed up with Experimental's cocktails.

Tollington'sTollington's

Finsbury Park - 172 Tollington Park, London N4 3AJ

This is the second opening by the folks behind Four Legs, Ed McIlroy and Jamie Allan, who have had huge success with their nearby pub The Plimsoll. They've taken over an old fish and chips restaurant to create a new fish bar that will be inspired by the kind of seafood bars you can find in coastal Spain, intended as a drop-in for a drink and a snack kind of place. They've recently been touring Spain for inspiration, so expect plenty of seafood small plates with lots of cured, fresh and fried options.

Opening: June (Date TBC)

Jones & SonsJones & Sons

South Woodford - 98–106 High Road, London E18 2QH

After more than a decade in Dalston, Jones & Sons are getting ready to open their second restaurant, this time heading east to South Woodford. Overseen by the same chef behind Dalston, like the original there will be a seasonal menu based around local British produce. Like the original restaurant, their brunch and Sunday lunch options will be a very big deal and a huge draw, while they're also getting a new garden terrace ready here. it sounds like another hugely popular neighbourhood restaurant in the making.

Opening: 14 June

Wood St BearWood St Bear

Walthamstow - 135 Wood Street, London E17 3LX

DJ Simon Bear, a local in the area, has taken over Wood Street Deli for a brand new bar. As he says, Walthamstow "struggles for decent watering holes and needs somewhere community-focused."  It'll mainly be focused on wines and craft beer, working with Borough Wines on the former and local brewery Pillars on the latter. As for the food, expect cheese and charcuterie, pork pies and cheese toasties to be on offer.

Opening: late June
