The mid-autumn festival brings with it some of our favourite things - mooncakes. These pastry delights are only available for a short period of time and London restaurants are getting ever more inventive with their own productions. Here are some of the more notable mooncakes this season.
Mins Mooncakes
Where: Nationwide delivery
When: Available till 20 October 2025
Chef Min was the ex-head dim sum chef at Park Chinois and Hakkasan and has come up with some excellent mooncakes for the festival. Options include Min’s Moon (lotus seed paste with salted egg yolk) as well as red bean with 10-year-aged tangerine peel. The boxes are £55 each. They're traditional mooncakes, but a snowskin version is available for London delivery only.
Xi Home
Where: Pick up at 10 Blossom St, London E1 6PL
When: Until mid October 2025
City dumpling restaurant Xi Home has a box featuring six lave mooncakes for the mid-autumn festival. Each box costs £38 and contains a classic egg yolk custard lava mooncake as well as pistachio lava, Japanese matcha lava and mixed berry lava. They're also running weekly mooncake classes every Sunday in October.
Imperial Treasure

If you like your mooncakes on the teeny and delicate side, then you should probably consider the box this year from high-end Chinese restaurant Imperial Treasure. This year, they're once again offering a box of mini mooncakes filled with salted egg yolk custard costing £79 for eight (you can also have them if you dine in over the coming weeks at £20.70).
Bun House
Where: 26-27 Lisle Street, London WC2H 7BA (and delivery)
When: Until 6 October 2025
This year's Bun House Mooncake set for the festival includes lava custard mooncakes, red bean mooncakes, coconut winter melon mooncakes and pistachio cookie mooncakes. As ever, each cake features traditional Cantonese motifs representing longevity and prosperity.
Noodle & Beer
Where: Spitalfields, Soho and delivery
When: Available now while stocks last
Noodle & Beer always go for something pretty special with their mooncake boxes and this year the set comes with a special cup and even a bamboo lantern that lights up. As for the cakes themselves, this year's four flavours are tangerine peel & red bean, taro & chia, triple teas (matcha, green tea & jasmine tea) and coconut & quinoa. The special gift set is £75, but mooncakes will also be available from both of their branches for dessert.
Peninsula London
Where: Belgravia,
When: Until 12 October 2025.
In the high-end Peninsula hotel, you can find mooncakes in The Peninsula Boutique and Café. They'll have the group's mini mooncakes, including classic custard versions as well as egg custard mooncake with toffee filling, chocolate brownie egg custard mooncakes and white lotus seed paste mooncakes with yolk. You can collect these at the cafe itself but also look out for their special mooncake pop-up in Burlington Arcade from 1-4 October, where they'll have a vintage-inspired cart selling mooncakes.
Mille
Where: Paddington - 8A Spring Street, London, W2 3RA (and delivery)
Mille's creations this year include a custard, matcha, pistachio and raspberry and even a black truffle lava mooncake. They also have pineapple pastry and snowy versions. As ever, a savoury mooncake is available and this year, their pork pie version is also making a reappearance if you want something very different.
Shanghai Supper Club

Alongside their supperclubs, Shanghai Supper Club also sell mooncakes every year for the Mid-Autumn Festival. They offer Shanghainese mooncakes with a flaky crust and best known for having pork fillings. Options this year are either pork, red bean-filled and sea moss & pine nuts (or a box mixing two flavours). They also do special wontons at this time of year (pork & shepherd's purse), so you should really get a few of those too.
Mimi Mei Fair
Where: Mayfair - 55 Curzon St, London W1J 8PG (Collection and in the restaurant)
When: 29 September - 12 October 2025
As usual, this year's mooncakes from Mimi Mei Fair come in grande and mini sizes. The grand mooncakes are gilded in white lotus double egg yolk, while the mini ones are available in rose and mango, with each coming in a gold box, so they're a very good option for a gift.

Chinatown - Supermarkets in Chinatown are a good option for ready-made mooncakes, and for a fresher alternative, try Chinatown Bakery or Golden Gate Cake Shop.
