Back at the beginning of 2025, we brought you news that Big Mamma were getting ready to open in the City. Since then, they've opened Barbarella in Canary Wharf, but now we're finally getting news about what their City plans are going to be.
First spotted by Propel and confirmed by job listings, the next Big Mamma restaurant will be called Edmondo. And that's not their first restaurant by that name, as they already have an Edmondo in Hamburg. That restaurant happens to be housed in an old bank and while we're not 100% sure what the new Edmondo is taking over (possibly what was once the old Red Lion pub), we do know that it's in Bank.
The Hamburg Edmondo definitely follows the usual Big Mamma template - an Italian restaurant set in opulent surroundings.
The original plans showed that it would be a big space, with room for around 200 people to eat in as well as a separate bar. We'll have to see if that's still the case 1.5 years down the line. Expect an official announcement very soon, now that the news is out, which should clear up some details.
