Former Harrods pastry chef Phil Khoury is back at the store with his chocolate pop-up

Eighteen months after he stepped down as Head Pastry Chef at Harrods, Phil Khoury is back in the store with his own chocolates. Khoury, who headed up the Knightsbridge store's pastry endeavours for six years, is popping up over the summer in Harrods' Chocolate Hall. And he's bringing his bestselling chocolates with him.

The chef's solo business began after he was asked to take part in a charity bake sale for Lebanon. The resulting Beirut Bar with an orange blossom caramel and cashew baklava crunch was a huge hit and has sold out multiple times since. In fact, most of Khoury's chocolate releases, which he's sold online since starting his own business, have sold out mere minutes after going on sale.

For Harrods, there will be a special edit of chocolates featuring bars from Phil's City series.

  • Beirut - orange blossom caramel, cashew baklava crunch
  • London - Earl Grey and biscuits
  • New York - apple pie
  • Paris - crunchy hazelnut praline and caramel
  • Doha - cardamom coffee and dates
  • Oaxaca - corn, cinnamon, cacao

They'll be sold in a red post box stand in the food hall, along with a range of the chefs' chocolate-coated nuts. And, true to form, even those are standouts, with each nut being covered in a chocolate made from the nut itself, so pistachios in pistachio chocolate, for example.

"Harrods was home for so long," says Phil, "I always secretly hoped I'd find my way back one day." The chocolates will be on sale for at least a few months, so if you've missed out on the online releases, here's your chance to get hold of one.
