Top islington seafood restaurant Prawn on the Lawn is closing after 13 years

Sad news comes today of another restaurant that's local to us closing its doors. Recently we've said goodbye to Sambal Shiok and Black Axe Mangal, and now it turns out that Prawn on the Lawn in Islington is also closing its doors.

The seafood restaurant opened 13 years ago, but not actually in its current location. It started life just up the road, where you can now find The Nook restaurant, before moving to its current position, right beside Trullo. There, they became part fishmonger, part restaurant and have been a Highbury Corner mainstay ever since. We pass by the restaurant every day and it's always seemed busy, so it's a big shame to see the place close.

Since opening in Islington, owners Katie and Rick Toogood opened Prawn on the Lawn in Padstow in Cornwall, and there they now have three restaurants. That's where they'll be focusing their time now, so if you're really missing the restaurant, a trip to Cornwall seems like the thing to do.

On the closure, they say: "London was our very first opening and will always be a special place for us. This feels like a celebration and a marker of everything we’ve achieved during this chapter of our lives. We want to say a huge thank you to our guests and everyone we’ve worked with along the way - it’s been incredibly touching and emotional to reflect on it all."

You only have two days before they close, so get booking if you want to try them out before they're gone forever.
