Uncle Hon's BBQ looks to add East Asian influences to Texas BBQ in Hackney Wick

At the end of last year, Douglas McMaster's Silo shut the doors in Hackney Wick (over Crate Brewery), but now Uncle Hon's BBQ is hoping to take the space over - and he's nearly got his Kickstarter completed.

Founder Man Hon Luk (who lives in the area) has learned his BBQ know-how the proper way, learning his skills in the home of BBQ, Austin Texas. Since then, he's been popping up all over London and eventually settled down for a long-term residency at All My Friends (also in Hackney Wick). The food he's been cooking there takes his BBQ skills and adds an East Asian twist, with previous dishes including peach tea-glazed pork belly, Sichuan beef short rib, cumin-pulled lamb shoulder, 8-hour ox cheeks and more.

As well as all the BBQ, he's planning to make it a music-led space at the weekends, with DJs, live performances, and a special late-night menu of grilled dishes.

It sounds pretty great, frankly, and if you fancy helping him get it over the line, you can see the Kickstarter here
