Last seen at The Bluecoats in Tottenham, Ling Lings have another long-term residency lined up, this time in Islington. They're taking over the kitchen at wine-led pub Godet.
It's led by chef Jenny Phung, with a menu that draws both on her Chinese heritage and her time in her own parents' takeaway restaurant. On the menu here, you'll find Chinese cooking that also takes in a little Vietnamese and Korean influences.
The new menu at Godet features dishes that include a spicier version of beef tartare alongside turnip cakes in a soy pomegranate glaze with pickled yellow daikon and herbs. There's also her own version of a spag bol, transformed into Sichuan mala beef ragu with udon noodles. Another twist is her chicken Caesar salad, dressed with silken tofu instead of mayonnaise. There are also sweet & sour king prawns, "Dad’s aromatic duck salad", Sichuan hibiscus octopus and it all finishes with matcha and white chocolate tiramisu.
All this is backed up by a strong wine selection, with Godet run by the same people behind Binch wine bar in Hackney. It's a great little pub, and if you haven't had the chance to try it yet, this new year-long residency is a good opportunity.
