Fashionistas, we have one for your future diaries…Ralph Lauren is opening a London restaurant. Fittingly, it’ll be at the old Vogue House on 1 Hanover Square and called The Polo Bar Ralph Lauren. This is not the first time Ralph Lauren has made a foray into London’s hospitality world. Back in 2017 we reported on the opening of Ralph’s Coffee & Bar at the Polo Ralph Lauren store on Regent Street, which was a mixture of both Ralph's Coffee and The Polo Bar. Although that didn't last long.
Fair to say, the US fashion brand is pretty well regarded in the UK, with a 40-year presence on its high streets (New Bond Street is home to Ralph Lauren’s first-ever international flagship store, which opened in 1981), with 12 stores still in operation. Tennis fans will also have noticed that since 2006 it has been the Official Outfitter of The Championships in Wimbledon.
This new dining venture is intended to be a big deal, with a nod to the international buzz when the fashion company first opened The Polo Bar in New York in 2015. The brand also has four other international restaurants: in Paris, Milan, Chicago and Chengdu, plus more than 40 Ralph’s Coffee outlets globally. What to expect? Well, they’re aiming for a welcoming dining experience that enhances the charm and heritage of the Brits, our centuries of tradition, refinement and warmth. We hope to bring you more specifics as the opening date gets closer, but if it’s anything like the New York Polo Bar, you might find the following on the dinner menu:
- Ralph’s corned beef sandwich: melted Swiss cheese on marbled rye bread with coleslaw
- Lobster roll: celery, lemon and tarragon on a toasted brioche bun with Old Bay potato chips
- Caviar and potatoes: 1 oz Golden Osetra with crispy potatoes, crème fraîche and chives
As it's not predicted to open until 2028, the good news is that you're going to have plenty of time to find the right outfit.
