If you fancy a virtual trip to Malaysia by way of bold and zingy flavours, then put South East London’s Nunhead on your restaurant radar: Duda Diner is coming to town.
Located on the site of Goodcup Cafe, which has been going strong since 2018, Duda Diner will bring a dinner service to the venue in the form of a Malaysian family-style restaurant. Operated by husband-and-wife team Hakeem and Zura, who started cooking together during the COVID-19 pandemic while stranded in Morocco, the concept of Duda Diner has been well honed via their experimentation with pop-ups and supper clubs on their return to London. Hakeem also brings kitchen experience via his years working in London restaurants.
The menu will cover Malaysian classics as well as family recipes and inspiration from roadside stalls. You can expect:
- Fish head curry
- Satay Kambing: smoky lamb skewers in peanut sauce
- Char Kuey Teow
- Duda Burger: dry-aged beef, Sarawak peppercorn sauce on a milk bun
- Galway Bay Oysters with Tempoyak (fermented durian dip)
- Cockles rendang
