If you’re looking for an excuse to try something new and exciting in the world of cocktails and canapés, then Fitzrovia’s two-Michelin-starred Kitchen Table restaurant is calling your name.
They’re launching a weekly event called Stages of Nature in the restaurant’s lounge, where £95 will get you four cocktails expertly paired with four canapés, which, given the restaurant’s pedigree (check out our review from a few years back), sounds like extraordinarily good value to us. The 90-minute event combines the talents of bar manager Amine Azil and Kitchen Table’s chef and cofounder James Knappett.
You and your party of up to nine guests will be guided through a bit of mixology history, with the drinks maximising offcuts and leftovers from the kitchen in line with its sustainable ethos. Ingredients will change with the seasons, but if you rock up for the series’ debut, you can expect the following drink selections:
- Foraged Dry Martini: gin and seasonal foraged dry vermouth
- Old Fashioned: English rye whisky, Bramley apple, roasted oats, caramel and custard
- Foraged Gin and Tonic: Heritage Old Tom, seasonal foraged tonic water, gooseberry
- Grape Punch: grape brandy, Pinot Gris, verjuice, grape caramel
The all-important canapés paired with each cocktail are somewhat under wraps, but they’ve divulged that you can expect anything from Jerusalem artichoke chips with rosemary mascarpone to a rich chocolate fudge with fennel seed.
We've tried a version of this cocktail pairing when they held an event with Konicks Tail earlier this year. It's a really great way to see what Kitchen Table has to offer without going for the full-on tasting menu, and we'd highly recommend it.
