It was one of the hottest new restaurants to open in Chelsea for a while, but now Fantomas has closed its doors and its chef has departed.
Chris Denney was the driving force behind Fantomas, which he launched together with Wild's George Bukhov-Weinstein and Ilya Demichev. The restaurant announced its closure (the last day was 3 August) on Instagram two weeks ago, with Restaurant website revealing that Denney was not going to be returning. He was posting dishes from the restaurant the day of the closure announcement and from his latest Instagram post, it certainly doesn't look like something that was planned well in advance.
Nothing has been revealed about the new direction yet, other than it's the end of their "first chapter" and we're yet to discover if even the name will remain in place when the restaurant re-opens in the Autumn. We'll update as soon as we know more.
