Truffle Burger have been on something of a roll with their collabs and takeovers of late. They recently had Charles Pan Fried Chicken in a South Bank pop-up and next up is a taqueria takeover of their Soho restaurant.
The taqueria in question is Nixta Taqueria, which hails from Austin, Texas run by a chef with Michelin and James Beard awards under his belt. It takes the traditional taqueria experience and adds both Persian and Japanese influences. The pop-up here will add new dishes to the menu, some of the signatures from the Texas taqueria, for two weeks. That includes:
- Duck Carnitas Taco - 14-hour duck confit and salsa cruda with shaved onions and cilantro, wrapped in heirloom tortillas (made from Mexican heirloom corn)
- Hamachi Crudo - Hamachi served with fermented pineapple and habanero, chilli oil and smoked trout roe.
- Sholeh Zard - Persian cardamom and saffron-infused rice pudding dish - is topped with cinnamon, strawberry powder and pistachios
There are also sides like duck fat refried black beans and a special dish created just for this pop-up. That's the Cheeseburger Taco, which is a mash-up of Truffle Burger’s signature beef blend alongside American cheese, caramelised onions with pickles and sauce.
So if you really want to go to Austin but haven't managed to sort out that trip, this is one you won't want to miss.
