The relatively new Hyatt Place London City East hotel (it opened mid-2021) has just opened its main restaurant. Called Zoom East, it's billed as a Sicilian Kitchen & Bar with Sicilian chef Vittorio Meli in charge of the menu (he was previously at Polpo Soho).
On the menu will be:
- Arancini with Carnaroli saffron rice, peas & bechamel
- Sarde a Beccafico (Sardine rolls with parmesan, orange, raisins, herbs and pine nuts).
- Grilled Octopus with preserved lemon sauce, monk’s beard & crispy chickpea
- Guazzetto di Pesce - a soup of Cornish hake, olives, potato and capers
- Spaghetti Involtini (baked spaghetti with tomato sauce rolled into fried aubergines)
- Panna Cotta with Cardamon, saffron, rose water & pistachio
There will also be an aperitivo deli bar with British charcuterie from Cobble Lane Cured, vegan cheeses from La Fauxmagerie and lots more Sicilian produce. All in all, it sounds like it could be a useful addition to the area.
