Back in 2019, longstanding Mayfair restaurant The Square closed rather abruptly (right in the middle of a lunch service) but we're getting closer to a new restaurant taking over the building. Opening in The Square's place will be SeaSons seafood restaurant.
SeaSons already has a few fishmonger/bistros dotted across town (Fitzrovia, Notting Hill, Bayswater, Kensington) and even has plans for Miami and New York but this will be their flagship restaurant in London. The bistros are a more laid-back affair than what's expected from Mayfair. At the Mayfair restaurant, things will be taken up a notch or two, as well as there being a separate raw bar being on offer.
On the opening menu you'll find tempura oysters with ponzu, smoked eel with apple remoulade and frittura mista. There'll also be what might be London's single most expensive prawns - Torched Carabineros with caviar which are, brace yourselves, £75 each.
