Richard Caring's Mayfair empire continues to grow, with news that he's taken on the old Porsche showroom at 1 Mount Street. In addition to his nearby restaurants Annabels, Sexy Fish, Scott's, Harry's Bar and the upcoming Ivy Asia on North Audley Street, Caring is now working on what looks to be a huge new opening.
The corner site at 1 Mount Street wraps around to Davies Street and will take over the basement, ground and mezzanine floors.
Having gone through the planning stages and being given the go-ahead by Westminster council, it looks that the restaurant will have a terrace for alfresco food and drink, counter dining and a private dining room, with room for more than 230 diners. The architect company involved also worked on the redesign of Annabels.
We have no idea what's planned for the space. It's too close to Sexy Fish, Scott's and the new Ivy Asia to be any of those and it doesn't seem to be the right sort of spot for one of Caring's Ivy Cafes, but who knows? The one thing we do know is that it will be an "all-day fine dining restaurant, of a similar standard to Scott’s". We'll bring you more news as we get it.
