What: The Good Plot

In a nutshell: Ethical and sustainable cafe, deli and restaurant in Notting Hill

Summing it all up: Model Mandy Lieu is behind the transformation of this Westbourne Grove spot into an all-day restaurant and deli aiming to connect Londoners with where their food comes from.

The low-down

For a new deli, cafe and restaurant just opened in Notting Hill, it's surprisingly difficult to find out much about The Good Plot. The venture, which opened a few weeks back, hasn't even a menu on its website, so piecing information together required us to do a little digging.

Turns out the all-day wholefood and ethical spot is from Malaysian model and actress Mandy Lieu. If you haven't heard of her, one key thing to know is this former Dior model has just split up with billionaire Alvin Chau. That's left her with the small change to purchase both this place and the former home of the Duke of Wellington, the 925-acre Ewhurst Park in Hampshire which she's turning into a farm to supply this restaurant.

So yes, it's fair to say she has both big plans and the money to carry them off.

While the Hampshire farm plans are underway, Lieu is currently using predominantly British farmers and makers to supply The Good Plot. The place is open all day from 7am in the morning for coffee and baked goods like tahini and chocolate brioche rolls. From Thursday to Saturday they open for dinner too with chef Kate Emily Allan (ex Theo Randall and Bocca di Lupo) serving up dishes like:

  • Delica pumpkin soup, crispy sage pumpkin seeds and our fresh rosemary focaccia
  • Grilled octopus, white bean velouté with chorizo salsa
  • Herb crusted lamb rump with sautéed wild mushroom and salsa verde
  • Puntarelle with Burrata and Pane Carasau

The place looks quite beautiful. There's a chef's table downstairs and also a large private dining room for dinners with family bubbles for now - and friends later, once covid restrictions change.

They also run a daily organic milk delivery to the denizens of Notting Hill if you're lucky enough to live close by.
