It's been a go-to patisserie in Milan since the 19th century - it joined the Prada group in 2014 - and now Marchesi 1824 has opened its doors in London, on Mount Street to be exact. The new pastry shop will be open all day, serving Mayfair folk with top quality coffee and fine pastries, opening into the early evening for cocktails.

Hot Dinners popped along for a look on the opening day - here's what we found:

panettoneThe Marchesi panettone is one ot the most popular items in their Milan shop in the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II.

backroomIn addition to seating in the front, there's a really pretty tea room at the back - perfect for afternoon teas or business breakfasts.

selectionPeonies, pastries and a cracking cappuccino - yes we think Londoners will take this new Mayfair pastry shop and cafe to their hearts

As for prices, well they're pretty much what you would expect from somewhere in the heart of Mayfair. A club sandwich will set you back £18 while an Aperol Spritz will be £13. On the other hand, the coffee's not quite as pricey as at Alain Ducasse, so that's something.
