UPDATE - due to circumstances beyond their control, the bacon scone pop-up will no longer be going ahead.
Original article follows:
If you haven't yet had a chance to go to Frenchie and try their amazing bacon scones - then they're about to make it a whole lot easier for you. This summer they're launching a bacon scone pop-up in Covent Garden Market.
They'll be in the lower level arches of the market, offering their scones to go. These are their smoked bacon and maple syrup scones (served with clotted cream for £3.50) and they are indeed bloody marvellous. Or as our original Test Drive of Frenchie put it - "little morsels of bacon gorgeousness".
Not only that, but there will also be goat’s cheese scones served with clotted cream (£4), a vegetarian version, and, for dessert, banoffee scones (£2.50) too. And if you just fancy taking some home, they'll be selling boxes to take home (1 of each scone (3 scones) for £9.00, 6 scones for the price of 5, 12 scones for the price of 10).
They'll also have their own Pac Man machine (the person with the highest score at the end of Summer gets a free meal at Frenchie) and they'll be selling badges with a Bacon Scone logo on for £1. That will be donated to Le Fonds de dotation Merci - a charity dedicated to acting together for a sustainable and fair future for children through education in Madagascar and various charity initiatives in France.
