As the reopening of London's restaurants, pubs and bars looms (we're definitely not calling it "super Saturday" though) we've already seen many ways in which restaurants are shifting the way they work, from removing tables, adding more screening and capitalising on outside space. But there are also two huge new additions to the scene that are really making the most of the increased demand for

Walthamstow and Leyton's food scenes are thriving with restaurants doing everything from haggis toasties and Korean wings to stone-baked pizzas and vegan curry kits. 

They first took over Walthamstow's Manze's pie shop (in the evenings only) for a pop-up last year and returned a few times since. Now The Jellied Eel are back in the same location for a permanent residency featuring their combination of cocktails and croquetas.

Those croquetas will be back on the menu (including Jamon Iberico, leek, chorizo, blue cheese, spinach and chicken

While we wait to see what Truman Brewery have planned in Walthamstow, another big new development has just opened. 

Crate (not to be confused with the Hackney brewery) have just a new container village called Crate St James Street, designed to be a collection of food and drink outlets and shops (a bit like Boxpark) and a way for small businesses to start up.
