21/10/16 - updated with soft launch details.
Following up his successes at Smokehouse and Bad Egg, Neil Rankin is getting ready for his next venture, Temper. This time, he's setting up shop in Soho, and as expected you can expect a big focus on meat.
What we know so far is:

From the start of 2017, if you so desire, you’ll be able to dive back in time to a prohibition era-style dining experience spanning a whole building at Six Storeys. It’s the newest offering from the people who brought you Tanner & Co, the traditional restaurant in a highly untraditional gymnasium venue, and is similarly esoteric in style.
Based in the heart of Soho, Six Storeys’ food and drink

We're pretty partial to a scoop or two of Gelupo ice-cream so we're quite taken with their latest wheeze. To tie in with the launch of the new Michelin guide they've come up with a special collaboration - seven gelato collaborations with seven Michelin-starred chefs. Each flavour ties in with the kind of dishes you'd find at their restaurants. And they are:
There are some big changes afoot at one of Soho's oldest institutions. We make a return trip to Quo Vadis to see what's up.

After winning the Slider Decider two years in a row, Adam Rawson is bringing those burgers along to his next week-long pop-up. He's appearing at the Sun & 13 Cantons with the winning burgers AND a Seven Wonders of the Culinary World menu.
The ex-Pachamama chef's evening menu will be seven courses, each from a different place that he's visited in the past few months. So that's a VERY enticing menu that

Earlier this year, there was the sad news that The Lockhart was closing, but if you lived in fear at never getting that cornbread again - then worry no more. Some of the best dishes of the Lockhart are finding their way over to a new menu at Brad McDonald's Soho restaurant Lockhart.

We've been big fans of Smoking Goat since it opened so hearing that founder Ben Chapman was launching a new restaurant made us sit up and pay attention.
The place is described as a 'side of the road type restaurant' with a short grill menu and a daily noodle dish. It sounds like it'll be quite a scene too with a long stainless steel counter curving the length of the room in front of an open kitchen with the wood

While the rest of London was searching for somewhere air-conditioned last night, Hot Dinners headed downstairs to the basement bar of Ember Yard for some hot and sweaty croquetas action.
14 restaurants were in competition for the title of the best croquetas in London with a top judging team of Bob Granleese (from the Guardian), food writer Joe Wright, Time Out's Laura Richards and our good selves.
There were all manner of croquetas to choose from, from the trad

The Queen's not the only notable 90th birthday this year, as venerable Soho institution Quo Vadis is getting ready to celebrate its own 90th anniversary. And it's doing it with some BIG changes.
The first change is downstairs - where the main restaurant is moving into the bar space (which used to be the dining room). That'll now seat 25, serving Jeremy

Opening in Soho today is London's latest chicken shop - the second restaurant from fledgling group Absurd Bird. The food's the same for anyone who knows their existing restaurant in Shoreditch- waffle cones with popcorn chicken, buffalo wings, jalapeno mac and cheese and really a whole lot of ethically sourced free-range chicken.
Cocktail lovers should head downstairs to their basement bar which they've done out like an old southern saloon with a cocktail

If the thought of finding time to go a winery for tasting session this summer seems like a distant dream - there's another option much closer to town. Tesco are opening a wine bar pop-up that will be showcasing their range of "finest" wines, featuring bottles from all over the globe. It's definitely not what you expect from Soho, that's for sure...
There will be over eighty different wines, while experts and winemakers will

There's no arguing that the move to the City has brought with it a very big change for Pitt Cue - and one that's very much for the better. However, the original Pitt Cue in Soho had A LOT of fans, many who were more than a little sad when the source of some of the best pulled pork in London disappeared.
But mourn no longer - for Little

Two fish and chip stories in as many days? Who'd have thought the chippy would be a 2016 trend for London?
