27 - 31 Clerkenwell Close, Farringdon, London EC1R 0AT
This neighbourhood cafe in Clerkenwell is blessed with a hidden courtyard terrace which is a good-to-know alfresco option in this area. As for the food, they serve up ethically-sourced organic produce taking inspiration from both European and Californian cafes with a small regularly changing menu.
55 Great Portland Street, London W1W 7LQ
This is the main restaurant upstairs at The George pub in Fitzrovia. It comes from JKS (the people behind Gymkhana) and Kitchen Table's James Knappett, who is behind the menu. Expect a much more elevated approach to a traditional pub menu.
4-6 Islington Green, London N1 2XA
This restaurant brings fresh pasta to Islington from chef Louis Korovilas (who created the original menu at Bancone). Expect pasta dishes that evolve with the season alongside plenty of fritti action (including fritto misto, of course).
21 Slingsby Pl, London WC2E 9AB
This is the second restaurant for Lahpet, originally finding fame in Shoreditch. It sees them bringing their unique take on Burmese cuisine to the west end, with noodle soups and their famed tea leaf salad all on the menu, along with a great cocktail list. There's a huge heated terrace on the first floor too.
The Dorchester, Park Lane, London W1K 1QA
Alain Ducasse is one of France's most celebrated chefs and he's done pretty well over here too. This restaurant at The Dorchester hotel, serving up fine French food, is one of a few restaurants in London to be awarded three Michelin stars.
20 Queen Street, London, W1J 5PR
There are a few Cafe Muranos across town - but this is the main Michelin-starred flagship restaurant of Angela Hartnett. It's high-end Italian dining but with a relaxed vibe.
The Connaught, Carlos Place, Mayfair, London W1K 2AL
One of the main restaurants at prestigious London hotel The Connaught, this is run by French Chef Hélène Darroze. Expect high-end French dining that has won the restaurant three Michelin stars. After a recenti-ish major refurbishment, it now has an impressive chef's table. Make sure to finish with the signature rum baba.
53-54 Brook's Mews, London W1K 4EG
Part of an international group of restaurants, eating here - particularly if you've scored an outside table - should be like eating somewhere very luxe on the Cote d’Azur. The food is light French Mediterranean and Niçoise cuisine. A recent addition has been a new oyster bar.
20 Mount Street, London W1K 2HE
This seafood restaurant in Mayfair is also one of its most famous, and the flagship restaurant for Richard Caring's Caprice group. And if you can grab one of the tables outside (weather permitting), it's one of THE places to be seen in town.
28 Upper Grosvenor Street, London W1K 7EH
This is Irish celeb chef Richard Corrigan's main restaurant in London, and one where much of the produce comes from his own farm in Ireland. Expect hearty food and also a damned fine bar attached to it too, called Dickie's, where the drinks have a distinct Irish flavour.

The original Goodman and perhaps our favourite. When this superlative steak restaurant opened, it was hard to find a decent steak in London. That's all changed now - but Goodman remains a top place to either treat yourself or splash the company credit card at.
1st Floor, 39 Chepstow Place, Bayswater, London W2 4TS
This longstanding neighbourhood gem of an Italian has been packing Notting Hill's denizens into its light-filled dining room - above the ground floor pizzeria - for over 20 years. They source the best Italian ingredients possible for a classic Italian menu that's inspired by the chef's Sardinian childhood.

Pierre Gagnaire's uber chic Mayfair restaurant is certainly for special occasions - it's one of the most expensive meals in town. There are multiple dining rooms within the building, all with very different looks and menus. There are also incredibly instagrammable loos.
8 Balderton Street, Brown Hart Gardens W1K 6TF
Formerly owned by Corbin and King this is the restaurant of The Beaumont - The Colony Grill Room. The hotel is redolent of the era of Grand Hotel grill rooms.
10 Shepherd Market, Mayfair, London W1J 7QF
This is the restaurant that catapulted Tomos Parry (now heading up Brat) to fame, while signalling the reinvigoration of the restaurant scene on Shepherd Market. It's a teeny, but romantic space.
45 Park Lane, Mayfair, London W1K 1PN
Wolfgang Puck made his fortune serving gourmet pizzas to Hollywood's elite. It's currently his only European restaurant - part of the Dorchester Collection. Steaks are the focus here as well as plenty of interesting salads for the stars to push around their plates. Puck does pop in from time to time and while there, you should make sure to check out the bar, where they have a negroni trolley.
34 Grosvenor Square, London W1K 2HD
From the team at Caprice Holdings, this 100-seat steak restaurant in the heart of Mayfair has been a celebrity haunt since Day 1. It has a focus on rare breeds and game, while also offering a collection of lighter dishes. Designed by Martin Brudnizki, it's a popular spot and great for brunch.
12-14 Hillgate Street, London W8 7SR
With two of Greece's top chefs enlisted to create the menu Athinagoras Kostakos, executive head chef at Bill, Coo Mykonos and George Venieris, executive head chef at the roof garden restaurant at the Electra Palace Hotel in Athens, this modern Greek restaurant aims to "reinterpret old time classic recipes with a modern twist."
Berkeley Square House, Berkeley Square, London W1J 6BR
Berkeley Square's see and be seen seafood restaurant (with grilled meats too). There's a super selection of Japanese whiskies at the bar and the private dining rooms are jaw-dropping.
122 Palace Gardens Terrace, London W8 4RT
This was the first restaurant to be opened by The Gladwin brothers, who are each a farmer, a chef and a restaurateur. Serving up British food, much of it from their own family farm, it's all about locally grown, sustainable produce.
5a Air Street, London, W1J 0AD
One of the biggest Hawksmoors of the standout steak group, this one has great views over Regent Street and also places a special focus on seafood dishes created by fish maestro Mitch Tonks. It's a big old room too.
191 Portobello Road, London, W11 2ED
Soho House's Notting Hill outfit consists of an Electric House members club, a fancy Electric Cinema (London’s oldest cinema) and the Electric Diner. The Diner's all day menu features steaks, sandwiches, all-day breakfasts and plenty of comfort food. It does what is does very well and remains a big hit with locals.
17 Berkeley St, London W1J 8EA
Park Chinois plays homage to the opulence and decadence of 1930s Shanghai, with regional Chinese food and live entertainment. It's very OTT, but no less fun for all that.
20 Savile Row, London W1S 3PR
Francesco Mazzei is chef patron of Sartoria restaurant on Savile Row in Mayfair, serving dishes from his native Calabria as well as other regions in Italy. They go big on truffles here and the sommelier is a London gem.
6 Portland Rd, London W11 4LA
Six Portland Road comes from Oli Barker (who used to head up Terroirs alongside Ed Wilson). It's a small 40 seater restaurant with an ever-changing European-influenced menu, always with five choices for starters, main and dessert. The wine list is well worth a look, with a focused list of around 50 and primarily small growers.
30 Bruton Place, Mayfair, London W1J 6N
The Guinea Grill has been a London steak institution since 1952 and it's still going strong, most recently revived under the recent leadership of former-landlord Oisin Rogers. Expect perfectly cooked steaks in an old school setting and a breakfast menu that'll set you up for days.

The Sethi family's concept of taking a colonial gymkhana club theme and serving modern Indian food combined with British ingredients, with a focus on the tandoor oven and sigri charcoal grill was an instant hit. Always packed with A-listers and foodies alike.

A North Indian dining experience founded by Samyukta Nair with her father, Dinesh - you'll find dishes from both the Royal kitchens of Northern India and the coastal cuisine from the Southern states on a menu of what they call "palatial Indian dining".

This is a small two storey restaurant with a modern take on traditional Mexican from food husband and wife team Edson and Natalie Diaz-Fuentes. Here you'll find a menu which mixes what you know about Mexican cooking with more unfamiliar dishes.

Inspired by the street food of Mumbai Bombay Bustle, it offers lunchtime tiffins, with a menu packed full of exciting, seasonal ingredients you may not be familiar with, that's cooked by someone who definitely knows what they're doing.
