This year marks the tenth anniversary of Chuku's, who started serving up "Nigerian tapas" as a series of pop-ups before settling down in their Tottenham restaurant, which has been going strong ever since. Now, the brother and sister team of Ifeyinwa and Emeka Frederick are back on the pop-up scene too, as they've arrived at Boxhall for Chuku's Chop Shop.
They'll be the latest team to take over Kitchen No. 8, the rotating residency kitchen that keeps things fresh at the City's indoor Boxpark cousin. It'll be a little different to the Tottenham restaurant, however, being more grab-and-go for the City. Here they're centring everything on jollof rice bowls. They'll all feature jollof rice, sweet fried plantain and Chukuâs house salad, while the toppings include honey suya chicken, banga chicken, suya meatballs and vegan adalu beans.
And there's more than just the bowls, as you can also expect loaded fries (which you won't find in Tottenham), the Zobo Wings (wings in a glaze of hibiscus, ginger, cloves & pineapple) and their gluten-free yam brownie.
So if you haven't had the chance to try them in Tottenham, you should absolutely head to Boxhall while they're in residence.
