The Good Egg kicks off a new Tel Aviv inspired Summer menu

The Good Egg kicks off a new Tel Aviv inspired Summer menu

Just in time for summer – we hear that The Good Egg in Stoke Newington has thrown open the doors to its garden, seating up to 20 people. And there's a new summer menu to go with it, designed for sharing on long communal outside tables - inspired by the long hot evenings in Tel Aviv.

Along with favourites like warm, fluffy pitas and grilled flatbreads with thyme and honey, there'll be bowls of jewelled rice, house-made labneh with fresh peas and garden herbs, rolled pork with ras-al-hanout and sweet grilled apricots, and smacked cucumber with tahini and fried chick peas.

The Good Egg team have turned chopped pita nto what they call Tel Aviv Nachos, paired with house pickles and spicy mango amba, with more new small plate dishes like braised octopus with baby potatoes and pickled chilli.

We also like the sound of the new desserts: ricotta doughnuts with rose petal dust and ice cream, and a set buttermilk pudding with white peaches and a sesame biscuit – along with a summer list of Middle Eastern inspired cocktails: think cucumber martini, boozy iced cardamom coffee, and a rum and pickled pineapple fizz.

The menu will change weekly and the kick-off menu features:

  • House made labneh with fresh peas and sumac
  • Tel Aviv Nachos with mango amba and house pickles
  • Za’tar Fried Chicken with fennel slaw
  • House smoked trout and grapefruit on rye
  • Smacked cucumber with tahini and fried chickpeas
  • Buttermilk cornbread with zhoug and salted honey butter
  • Braised octopus with baby potatoes and pickled chili
  • Rolled pork with ras-al-hanout and grilled apricots
  • Ricotta donuts with rose petal dust and ice cream
  • Set buttermilk pudding with white peaches and a sesame biscuit

The Good Egg Summer Menu is on offer until September at 93 Stoke Newington Church Street, London N16 0AS. For more information, follow them on Twitter @thegoodegg_
