We've been aware for a while that Harvey Nichols were planning to sell their OXO Tower restaurants, at the top of one of London's most recognisable landmarks. There had also been rumours that the Aqua Group were looking at the site, but now we know who's really taking it over. It's the team behind Fallow and Roe, who have just announced that they've bought it.
They've previously opened at the foot of an impressive tower over in Canary Wharf with Roe, but this will be the first time the team have gone high-rise. The current OXO Tower restaurants (both the main restaurant and the bistro) take up a big space up on the eighth floor and have two of London's best terraces, with fantastic views across the Thames.
About the takeover, Fallow owner James Robson said, "We could not resist this gem of an art deco landmark. The 8th floor views are world famous, and we look forward to working with the incumbent team and landlord to bring some additional character and energy back to this wonderful site."
The plan at the moment appears to be to keep the restaurants open as they currently are, with plans to initially "empower the current team" and "patiently tweak". It's being described as a "work in progress" as opposed to a complete relaunch. It's a really lovely restaurant, particularly that terrace, but it's also one that could do with the Fallow touch, so it'll be interesting to see how the menus evolve over the coming months.
It's very early days on this one, but it's absolutely one to watch.
