Since opening in a small site in Crouch End (she's recently moved to a much bigger space there), Sourdough Sophia has been launching very successful bakeries across town, but now she's turned her attention to central London. The next Sourdough Sophia will be in Neal's Yard in Covent Garden.
Founded by both Sophia and her husband Jesse, the bakery will be taking over the Barbary Next Door site. That site was, of course, once a bakery itself before becoming a Barbary spin-off. In there, you're going to find sourdough loaves, of course, as well as sweet pastries, which include the signature Passion Fruit Bow, savoury pastries like their courgette Danish, while sandwiches include a smoked salmon bun. There will also be an exclusive - the ice cream cruffin cup, which fills one of their cruffins with soft serve ice cream.
It'll be a welcome addition to the yard, which until recently had a St John bakery which then shifted to become a restaurant and wine bar. If you're in the area, pop in for one of the cereal milk cookies, which we personally love; you won't be disappointed.
