As Hot Dinners readers may know, we've become slightly fascinated by the trend of pop-up restaurants/cafes/shops to promote something that's completely unrelated to food and drink - and here's the latest.
For one weekend only, at extremely specific times (see below), a café called Two Yolks is taking over the Old Queen Street Café. Lotto (yes, the people who tease you with life-changing amounts of money) are deeming it the ‘Luckiest Café’.
What does this mean? Apparently, good things come in twos. So, this brunch pop-up has been created in a nod to Lotto’s new format (every £2 ticket now gives players two chances to win) and the cafe will celebrate it with food takes on all things two, double, deux.
This translates as brunch dishes such as:
- Winner Winner Chicken Schnitzel
- Double-Yolk Fry Up
- A pair of brioche pastries inspired by a Bakewell tart
We feel like they missed a moment for a couple of millionaire’s shortbreads, but regardless, there are also surprise giveaways and even personalised numerologist readings.
Spaces are available for limited walk-ins, but if you want to guarantee a seat for the themed soundtrack and the interactive ‘it could be you’ Lotto-style winning moments, booking online (it's only £2 for one ticket covering two people, which includes a cooked breakfast and soft drink), will up your chances. All proceeds go to the National Lottery Good Causes, so everyone’s a winner.
