It's been just over a year since they opened in King's Cross and now Bubala is getting ready to open their fourth restaurant, this time in Covent Garden. They're taking over the space that used to be Lima Cantina for their biggest restaurant yet.
If you haven't managed to make it along to any of the other Bubalas, here's what you need to know.
They first opened in Spitalfields in 2019, and serve up Middle Eastern-inspired food that's also all vegetarian. They have a few signatures, like the confit potato latkes with toum (a must-have), as well as their halloumi with chamomile and fennel honey. On top of a regular menu, which includes lots of breads and dips (the hummus with burnt butter is very good), you'll also find a few specials like a whole grilled baby corn with pilpelchuma butter, which should be on the menu when this branch opens.
The restaurant itself should fit in around 90 people (and 30 more outside), which does make it their biggest yet. Bubala is always very popular wherever it opens, so this should do very well in theatreland.
